National Wool Week

This week is national wool week, and in reference to this fashion forward week we have decided to conduct a post on one of the most prominent pieces this season, the statement jumper.

This season is all about the chunky knit turned modern, designers everywhere have created a new style of the ever popular knitted jumper with a modern twist. Additions of studs and logos have been able to transform this oldie into a modern classic! Something that is so traditional has been modernised and recreated to be worn by the everyday woman.

This modernised classic has been debuted on everyone from style icon Alexa Chung to the streets of Milan.

Alexa Chung has always been a big fan of knitwear and that is no surprise as it falls so elegantly on her dainty frame, whether she mixes it with a mini skirt or goes for a more casual look sporting them with a pair of jeans. She is known for her flawless style choices and her great love of fashion. Her unique eye for style has made people green with envy wanting to replicate her flawless style.

Kate Bosworth is a casual chic kind of girl, she has a fabulous sense of style and makes it look so effortless, a natural beauty. She has a look based around items that can be worn 10,000 times over, statement items that never fail to stay in style. She loves her casual denim looks and mixes genres of boho chic and summer siren. She is able to comfortably transfer looks from the summer seasons into the colder months, with the help of a few key items mixing sharp tailoring and personalised knit wear, she mixes different textures together to create ultimately a unique look.

Gwen Stefani is probably one of the coolest women around, she oozes edge and looks fantastic doing it. At 41 years old she looks better than most 20 year olds do. With her own fashion line she has enabled the normal woman to dress as well as she does. Knit wear is also a key item in her wardrobe she is able to make the dullest of outfits look like a original Gwen creation.

Here at South West Ten we love our knitwear and these are perfect for the change in seasons that we are going through at the moment. These however are unlike your regular knitwear with a bit of glitz and glamour added they are perfect to take from day to night. Perfect match with leggings/skinny genes and a pair of heels gives these jumpers the complete look. All available from our store at www.southwestten.com

Shape Up

Here at South West Ten not only are we dedicated to finding the newest trends
but our challenge is to reawaken your love for clothing, Allowing you to believe that you have the ability to feel good in what you wear.

Believing that you have control when it comes to what you wear is a mindset that can alter the way you look at yourself in clothes.

There are few items of clothing that suit every body type
and of course when it comes down to what you wear, it all depends on what you feel comfortable in.
Its an extremely important factor in looking good to feel good in your clothes.

So because we do not have the luxury of being able to hire a stylist to clothe us or tell us what looks good and what doesn't, we are left to our own devices and have to make those decisions on our own. Unfortunately that can be more difficult than it sounds and with the increase of online shopping we are unable to even ask sales assistants what suits us and what doesn't.

Leggings are a great way to add curve to your legs or to diminish it depending on what your aim is. They are versatile pieces that can be worn in a variety of ways and can be easily switched day to night with a little addition of a heel.

There are no bounds when it comes to the fitted legging.
They look good on all body types as we can see below.

1)The Model- Rosie Huntington Whiteley
2)The Curvy Girl- Kim Kardashian
3) The Athletic Girl- Lauren Conrad

Rosie Huntington Whiteley who started her career as a Victoria Secret Angel has burst onto the fashion scene recently. Her roots lie in England which makes us like her even more. She is known for her model career and as we can see here she has a 5ft 9 body everyone woman is envious of.

Kim Kardashian believe it or not started off her celebrity career as a wardrobe stylist. Her style has developed over the years but only recently have we started to see her wearing things that truly work with her body shape. Being in the public eye for years has obviously helped her learn what works and what doesn't for her body and these leggings seem to be a permanent addition to this sophisticated look she has started to acquire.

Lauren Conrad, known to most of us who were glued to one of the first popular reality shows, The Hills which was set in LA. The show was based around the young fashionista in a quest of self discovery and love. Interning at Vogue she had all of us envying her life and her job. Now she has gone from a self proclaimed reality star to an author turned fashion designer. With her fashion roots of course we knew that leather would be a key feature in her wardrobe year round...and we were right!

Now obviously we are not going to through these looks in without telling you, how to create a cheaper alternative. We have our own selection of leather leggings here at South West Ten, that are available at a range of different price points.

Wrapping up

The blustery winds don't seem to be going anywhere anytime soon and thankfully there are some options when it comes to staying stylish in these winter months.

The over sized jackets and the bulky woolen coats just look so unappetizing when we compare them to our light thin overcoats, leaving us to dress less than appropriately for the weather that is really outside.

But we are here to tell you, that doesn't have to be the case, there are so many options when it comes to coats this season.

Puffer jackets are not just intended to be packed for your latest skiing trip to the Alps, but can be matched with your everyday wear and tear items to still maintain your daily stylish look.

Looks like we are not the only ones who have unearthed this secret, these lovely ladies have also jumped onto this seasons must have.
Below they show us how it should be done when it comes to dressing appropriately for this unpredictable weather.

As you can see there is no age limit for this type jacket and it is a style that is timeless. Essentially it is the perfect addition to the winter wardrobe. Light but warm it fulfills all the needs that one looks for in the perfect winter coat.

Either way you look at it, you can't shy away from the fact that leather is a must have key item in ones wardrobe all year round.

Fur Fever

Get rid of those winter blues with a wardrobe overhaul.
It's depressing enough to look into your closet and be reminded of a summer passed with your maxi dresses/skirts and light blouses hanging there begging to be worn again, or bringing back memories of your carefree holiday.
Meanwhile you look outside and see the clouds of grey and the rain hammering on the pavement.
There's no place for those summer dresses anymore, take them out of the closet and put them in storage.
Don't let them torment you any longer.
Instead bring those jumpers and knits to front and get excited about being able to wear your furs and leathers again.
Take a look at the celebrities paving the way in their chic winter styles.

Fashionistas all over the globe are getting their furs out in preparation.

No matter what your style is there is a winter look for all.
As can be seen below with
          1) The Eclectic Romantic- Olivia Palermo
